bijñānarahitaḥ prāṇaḥ suṣuptau hi pratīyate /
nāhamātmā ca duḥ khādisaṃsārādisamanvayāt //
The vital breath is devoid of consciousness, for it is perceived [as such] in deep sleep; / and 'I am not the Self' [is false], because of connection with worldly existence, sorrow, and the like.
