rajomātrāṃ tanu gṛhya kṣudabhūtkopa eva ca /
kṣuttṛṭkṣāmā amṛgbhakṣā rākṣasā rakṣaṇācca ye //

Assuming a body consisting solely of passion, hunger and anger arose. / Emaciated by hunger and thirst, feeding on blood, the rākṣasas [arose] because of protecting (rakṣaṇa);
