sūta uvāca /
parikṣāṃ vacmiratnānāṃ balo nāmāsuro 'bhavat /
indrādyā nirjitāstena vijetuṃ tairna śakyate //

Sūta said:
I shall explain the testing of gems. There was once an asura named Bala;
Indra and the other gods were vanquished by him, and they were unable to defeat him.
