na teṣāṃ pratibaddhānāṃ bhā bhavatyūrdhvagāminī /
tiryak kṣatatvātkeṣāñcitkathañcidyadi jāyate /
tiryagvilikhyamānānāṃ sā (sa) pārśveṣu vihanyate //
their brilliance does not ascend upward when they are mounted. / If somehow it arises because of some transverse cut, / when they are scratched transversely, it is destroyed on the sides.
