yā mauktikānāmiha jātaye 'ṣṭau prakīrtitā ratnaviniścayajñaiḥ /
kambūdbhavaṃ teṣvadhamaṃ pradiṣṭamutpadyate yacca gajendrakumbhāt //
Of the eight origins of pearls that are proclaimed here by knowers of gem-evaluation, / that which is born from a conch, and that which arises from the frontal globe of a lord of elephants, is declared the lowest among them.
