yasya varṇasya bhūyastvātkṣīre śataguṇe sthitaḥ /
nīlatāṃ tannayetsarvaṃ mahānīlaḥ sa ucyate //
That which, placed in milk a hundred times its quantity, makes it all turn blue
because of the abundance of its colour, is called a mahānīla.
