svasthāvasthe śarīre 'tra vaitaraṇyā vrataṃ caret /
deyā ca viduṣe dhenustāṃ nadīṃ tartumicchatā //
While the body is still in a healthy state here, one should perform the rite of Vaitaraṇī; / and a cow should be given to a wise man by one wishing to cross that river.
