pretatvaṃ karmabhāvena prāptaṃ nāmāni ca dvija /
meṣānano lekhako 'yaṃ rodha (ha) kaḥ parvatānanaḥ //

The state of pretas and our names were attained through the nature of our deeds, O twice-born: / this Lekhaka has the face of a ram; Rodhaka has a face like a mountain;
