kṣattriyo dvādaśāhe tu vaiśyaḥ pañcadaśe tathā /
śuddhiḥ śūdrasya māsena mṛtake jātasūtake //
A kṣatriya [becomes pure] on the twelfth day, and a vaiśya on the fifteenth; / the purification of a śūdra is [completed] in a month, both in impurity from death and in impurity from birth.
