jīrṇoddhāraṃ prakurvāṇaḥ pūrvakartuḥ phalaṃ labhet /
jīrṇoddhāreṇa vā teṣāṃ tat puṇyaṃ dviguṇaṃ bhavet //
Restoring stepped wells, wells, reservoirs, groves, and temples of the gods, / one obtains the reward of the original builder, / or by repairing them, that merit becomes doubled.
