āsannamaraṇo matyaścettīrthaṃ pratinayite /
tīrthaprāptau bhavenmuktirmriyate yadi mārgagaḥ /
padepade kratusamaṃ bhavettasya na saṃśayaḥ //
If a mortal near death is led toward a sacred ford, / liberation occurs on reaching the sacred ford; if he dies traveling on the road, / at every step there is [merit] equal to a sacrifice for him, without a doubt.
