tataḥ śrāddhaṃ samuddiṣṭamekoddiṣṭaṃ yathāvidhi /
jalamannaṃ tathā deyaṃ pretoddharaṇahetave //
Then the śrāddha intended [for him], the ekoddiṣṭa, [should be performed] according to rule; / water and food should likewise be given for the purpose of rescuing the deceased.
