na cāśvamedhena tathā vidhivaddakṣiṇāvatā /
avṛttikarśite dīne brāhmaṇe gakṣite yathā //
Not even by a horse-sacrifice performed according to rule with lavish priestly fees [is such merit gained], / as when a distressed brāhmaṇa, emaciated from lack of livelihood, is protected.
