vaiśyaḥ svakarmāṇi viśocate tadā gṛhītapāśo na mayāpi sañcitam /
satyaṃ na coktaṃ kraya vikrayeṇa mohādvimūḍhena kuṭumbahetave //
A vaiśya then grieves over his own deeds when seized by the noose: 'I accumulated nothing, / nor was the truth spoken by me in buying and selling, thoroughly deluded out of attachment for the sake of my family!'
