yaścedaṃ śṛṇuyānmartyo yathāpi parikīrtayet /
vihāya yātanāṃ ghorāṃ dhūtapāpo divaṃ vrajet //
And whatever mortal listens to this, or likewise recites it, / leaving behind dreadful torment, cleansed of sin, he will go to heaven.

iti śrīgāruḍe mahāpurāṇe uttarakhaṇḍe śrīkṛṣṇagaruḍasaṃvāde dvitīyāṃśe dharmakāṇḍe pretakalpe mokṣopāyanirūpaṇaṃ nāmaikonapañcāśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus in the glorious Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa, in the latter section, in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Garuḍa, in the second part, the Dharmakāṇḍa, in the Pretakalpa, ends the forty-ninth chapter, entitled "Ascertainment of the Means to Liberation."
