vasiṣṭha uvāca /
dharmā bahuvidhā rājan varṇyante śāstrakovidaiḥ /
sūkṣmatvānna vijānanti karmamārgavimohitāḥ //
Vasiṣṭha said:
Dharmas of many kinds, O King, are described by those skilled in the scriptures; / deluded by the path of ritual actions, they do not understand on account of [their] subtlety.
