viṣṇubhakto 'titejasvī yathālābhena tuṣṭikṛt /
pitṛparvaṇi saṃprāpte kuśāryo kānanaṃ yayau //
a devotee of Viṣṇu, exceedingly radiant, content with whatever was obtained; / when the ancestral new-moon day arrived, he went to the forest for the sake of kuśa grass.
