pūrvaṃ hi sṛṣṭiḥ pratipādyate tra yato hyato bhāgavataṃ paraṃ smṛtam /
yasminpurāṇe kathayanti sṛṣṭiṃ hyādau viṣṇorbrahmarudrādikānām //
Because the primordial creation is expounded here, the Bhāgavata is held to be supreme; / in which Purāṇa they describe the creation of Brahmā, Rudra, and the rest from Viṣṇu at the beginning.
