tṛtīyāṃśaśravaṇādarthataśca puṇyaṃ cāhuḥ paṭhato vai daśāṃśam /
tato varaṃ matsyapurāṇamāhustato varaṃ kūrmapūrāṇamāhuḥ //
From hearing the third section and comprehending its meaning, they say the merit of the reciter is one-tenth. / After that, they declare the Matsya Purāṇa to be best; after that, the Kūrma Purāṇa.

tathaiva vai vāyupurāṇamāhustrīṇyeva cāhuḥ sāttvikānīti loke /
Likewise, they name the Vāyu Purāṇa; and these three alone are declared to be sāttvika in the world.
