sattvādhame mātsyakaurme tathāhurvāyu cāhuḥ sāttvikaṃ madhyamaṃ ca /
viṣṇoḥ purāṇaṃ bhāgavataṃ purāṇaṃ sattvottamaṃ gāruḍaṃ cāhurāryāḥ //
The Matsya and the Kūrma are called the lowest grade of sattva, and the Vāyu is said to be intermediate sattva; / the Viṣṇu Purāṇa, the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, and the Garuḍa are called the highest sattva by the noble.
