3.16.26

sadā smarati vai vīndra atosau smṛtisaṃjñakaḥ /
sarveṣāṃ ca hṛdisthitvā jñāto viṣṇorudīraṇāt //

O lord of birds, and therefore he is called Smṛti ('memory'). / Having taken his seat in the heart of all, he is known through the prompting of Viṣṇu;
