ripūnāskaṃ date nityamataḥ skanda iti smṛtaḥ /
yo vā sanatkumārastu brahmaputraḥ khagādhipa /
kāmāvatāro vijñeyo nātra kāryā vicāraṇā //

Because he constantly leaps upon (āskandate) his enemies, therefore he is remembered as Skanda.
He who is Sanatkumāra, the son of Brahmā, O lord of birds,
is to be known as an incarnation of Kāma; no doubt should be entertained on this point.
