ato gaṅgeti sā jñeyā sarvadā lokapāvanī /
bhaktyā viṣṇupadītyeva kīrtitā nātra saṃśayaḥ //
Therefore she is to be known as the Gaṅgā, who constantly purifies the worlds. / Out of devotion she is proclaimed as the Viṣṇupadī; of this there is no doubt.
