tasya vaivasvatasyāhaṃ manoḥ saptamamantaram /
kathayāmi sutān bhūpānṛṣīn devān surādhipam //

I shall relate to you the seventh period of that Vaivasvata Manu: / his sons the kings, the ṛṣis, the gods, and the sovereign of the gods.

Thus I describe the seventh period, that of Manu Vaivasvata, his sons, the kings, the ṛṣis, the gods and the king of the gods.

iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe sāvarṇike manvantare vaivasvatotpattirnāmāṣṭasaptatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ

Thus ends the seventy-eighth chapter, entitled "The Origin of Vaivasvata," in the Sāvarṇika Manvantara of the glorious Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa.
