ṛṣiruvāca
ityuktā sā tadā devī gambhīrāntaḥ smitā jagau /
durgā bhagavatī bhadrā yayedaṃ dhāryate jagat //
The ṛṣi spoke:
Thus accosted the goddess, smiling deeply within herself, she, Durgā the adorable and good, who supports this world, sang this reply then.
