prayāgaṃ tu viśeṣeṇa sadā rakṣati vāsavaḥ
maṇḍalaṃ rakṣati harir daivataiḥ saha saṃgataḥ //

The Ganges is guarded by 60,000 bows, the Yamuna (Jumna) by the Sun drawn by his seven horses, the sacred place Prayâga by Indra, and the circumference of it by Lord Viṣṇu, along with other Devas.—7-8.
