*mārkaṇḍeya uvāca
śṛṇu rājanprayāgasya māhātmyaṃ punareva tu
yacchrutvā sarvapāpebhyo mucyate nātra saṃśayaḥ //

Mârkaṇḍeya said:—King! Besides this, I shall now tell you about the great virtues of Prayâga; by the mere hearing of it one is rescued from all sins.—1.
