124.2

saptadvīpasamudrāṇāṃ dvīpānāṃ bhāti vistaraḥ
vistarārdhaṃ pṛthivyāstu bhavedanyatra bāhyataḥ //

Sûta said:—I shall now tell you, O Ṛiṣis! something about the movements of the sun and the moon and the area illumined by these two moving bodies, *viz.* (the sun and the moon). This includes the space occupied by the seven dvîpas and the seven oceans, comprising (at a time) the half of the Earth, as well as many parts of the universe outside the Earth.—1-2.
