prayayustatpuraṃ hantuṃ śarīramiva vyādhayaḥ
śaṅkhāḍambaranirghoṣaiḥ paṇavānpaṭahānapi
nādayantaḥ puro devā dṛṣṭāstripuravāsibhiḥ //

Sûta said:—Indra then the Lord of the Devas went with the Lokapâlas and the attendants of Śiva to kill those demons. They, encouraged by Śiva, begin to fly in the atmosphere like the winged mountains. They started to destroy Tripura like a disease setting out to attack the human body. The demons saw them advancing towards them, blowing their conches and beating their drums.—1-3.
