kalpaṃ sthāsyati vā khasthaṃ tripuraṃ śāśvataṃ dhruvam
adānavaṃ vā bhavitā nārāyaṇapadatrayam //
"Either this Tripura fort will remain as it is, quite independent till Kalpa lasts on these three worlds—Heaven, Earth and Pâtâla (lower regions)—covered by the three feet of Nârayana or, we will become free of the Dânavas, but we shall never deviate from the path of virtue that you direct us to do. Men shall see the three Lokas either free from the Devas or free from the Dânavas. The demons after thus rejoicingly conversing together went to their abodes and passed the night gladly in the indulgence of amorous pastimes.—12-14.
