Sûta said: "The group of Mânasa Pitṛis, who are most handsome and virtuous and known as Sumûrtimantas (Vasiṣṭha's sons,) reside in the region called Jyotirobhâsas where stars and planets light up their surroundings by their rays. This region is a high one where people making offerings to the manes of their deceased ancestors go and have various enjoyments. Even the Śûdras performing śrâddha go to that region in a vimâna; what to say of a Brâhmaṇa who performs śrâddha devoutly. Gô was the mânasa daughter of those Pitṛis, and was married to Śukra and who enhanced the reputation of Sâdhyâs.—12-15.
