tebhyaḥ sarve tu manavaḥ prajāḥ sargeṣu nirmitāḥ
jñātvā śrāddhāni kurvanti dharmābhāve 'pi sarvadā //
The Manus have sprung from these Pitṛis, and their progeny perform śrâddha even when there is an absence of Dharma in the world. It was they who at the beginning of the Creation started the system of śrâddha, after acquiring yoga and begetting children.—29-30.
