152.23

mahiṣaṃ patitaṃ dṛṣṭvā bhūmau provāca keśavaḥ
mahiṣāsura mattastvaṃ vadhaṃ nāstrairihārhasi //

Then, Viṣṇu said to the fallen Mahiṣâsura: "Mahiṣâsura you are not destined to die at my hands, because, Lord Brahmâ told you before that you would die at the hands of a woman. Stand up therefore and save your life. You should instantly retire from this warfare."—23-24.
