*ṛṣaya ūcuḥ
idānīṃ śrotumicchāmo hiraṇyakaśiporvadham
narasiṃhasya māhātmyaṃ tathā pāpavināśanam //
The Ṛiṣis said:—"O Sûta! we now wish to hear about the destruction of the demon Hiraṇyakaśyapu and also the glory of Narasiṁha (Avatâra) which is the dispeller of great sins"—1
