*matsya uvāca
viṣṇutvaṃ śṛṇu viṣṇośca haritvaṃ ca kṛte yuge
vaikuṇṭhatvaṃ ca deveṣu kṛṣṇatvaṃ mānuṣeṣu ca //
Matsya said:—Now hear how Viṣṇu attained Viṣṇuhood in Satyayuga, how he attained Vaikuṇṭha amongst the Devas, and how he attained Kṛiṣṇahood amongst the human beings The deeds of the Lord are indeed impervious, king! now hear about the past and the future manifestations of Viṣṇu—1 2
