aṣṭau mahābalāḥ sarvā devagātra samudbhavāḥ.
trailokyasṛṣṭisaṃhāra samarthāḥ sarvadevatāḥ .. 179.73 ..

All of them are most powerful and have been created from the body of Viṣṇu They are powerful enough to create and destroy the whole universe. The Divine Mothers created by Viṣṇu subdued those created by Śiva because none can stand the flash of wrath beaming from their eyes The Mātṛikās who were ready to destroy the world, now took refuge of Nṛisiṃgha Deva who then explained them the whole situation
