sa sisṛkṣur abhūd devaḥ prajāpatir arindama
tattejasaś ca tatraiṣa mārtaṇḍaḥ samajāyata //
Brahmâ created the Brâhmaṇas and, owing to His desire of calling the Universe into being, He is also known as Prajâpati. Mârtaṇḍa came into being by the glory of the Creator.—35.
