puṇyaṃ pavitramāyuṣyaṃ sarvapāpavināśanam
purā malaye na kathitaṃ tīrthaśrāddhānukīrtanam //

Sûta said that the performance of śrâddha in a holy place gives long life and washes off all sins, this has been said by the Lord Matsya—92.
