tathāpyarājata vidhur daśadhā bhāvayandiśaḥ
somaḥ prāpyātha duṣprāpyam aiśvaryamṛṣisaṃskṛtam
saptalokaikanāthatvam avāpa tapasā tadā //
Lakṣmî went after leaving Nârâyaṇa, Sinîvâlî went after leaving Kardama, Dyutî went after forsaking Vibhâvasu, Tuṣṭî went after leaving Dhâtara, Prabhâ went after leaving the Sun, Kuhû went after leaving Haviṣmân, Kîrti went after leaving Jayanti, Vasu went after leaving Mârichi Kaśyapa, Dhṛiti went after leaving her husband Nandi. All those goddesses went and adorned the Moon. The Moon also looked upon them as His own wives. Their Lords even seeing them go astray like that did not use their missile of curse against the Moon. The luminous Moon shed its light on all directions and became the sole Monarch of the seven worlds owing to His Yogic powers, even after attaining such a store of happiness which is envied by sages.—24-28.
