All the directions anxious to beget progeny absorbed that lustre in the form of damsels and then it remained in their womb for three hundred years. After that period the directions could not bear the power in their womb and so they ejected it. Brahmâ collected it together and created an illustrious Being bedecked with all the arms. He then gave him vedic powers and seated Him on a chariot drawn by a thousand horses and thus took Him to His region where seeing Him all the Brahma-Ṛiṣis acknowledged Him as their Sovereign Lord.—7-10.
