tatra vāso devayānyāḥ śarmiṣṭhā jagṛhe tadā
vyatikramamajānantī duhitā vṛṣaparvaṇaḥ //
At that, all the maidens, hastily coming out of water, dressed themselves with the clothes as they found them. In that hurry-scurry, Śarmiṣṭhâ, the daughter of Vṛiṣaparvan put on the clothes of Devayânî through oversight, at which, there ensued a quarrel between the two—Śarmiṣṭhâ and Devayânî.—5-6.
