*śarmiṣṭhovāca
ahaṃ kanyāsahasreṇa dāśī te paricārikā
dhruvaṃ tvāṃ tatra yāsyāmi yatra dāsyati te pitā //
Śaunaka said :—Then at the behest of her father Śarmiṣṭhâ in a palanquin went to Devayânî along with a thousand maids; and said, "Devayânî! I have come with a thousand maids to serve you and shall accompany you wherever you go, after being married by your father."—22-23.
