*devayānyuvāca
ākhyāsyāmyaham ādatsva vacanaṃ me narādhipa
śuko nāmāsuraguruḥ sutāṃ jānīhi tasya mām //
Devayânî replied:--"King! Hear what I say. I am the daughter of the Sage Śukra who is preceptor of the Asuras and she is my maid-in-chief, Śarmiṣṭhâ, the daughter of Vṛiṣaparvan, the mighty king of the Dânavas. She always accompanies me wherever I go."--9-10.
