31.14

*yayātiruvāca
vedmi tvāṃ śīlasampannāṃ daityakanyāmaninditām
rūpaṃ tu te na paśyāmi sūcyagramapi ninditam //

Yayâti replied:—"I know all thy qualifications. I know thou art the chaste daughter of the valiant king of the Daityas. Thou art modest, but I cannot look at thee with any feeling of lust, because at the time of Devayânî's marriage Śukra enjoined on me not to invite thee to my bed."—14-15.
