tasya yajñe jagau gāthāṃ gandharvo nāradastathā
kārtavīryasya rājarṣer mahimānaṃ nirīkṣya saḥ //
Seeing the glory of that sovereign, the sage Nârada, the Gandharvas, and the Apsarâs began to sing the praises of his sacrifices. There was no other Kṣatriya king who could rival him in the performance of sacrifices, in the giving of alms, in the practice of asceticism, in prowess and in the learning of the Sâstras. That monarch always toured about his extensive state, and punished the thieves, and the wicked with his sword, quoit, and arrows.—23-25.
