*ṛṣaya ūcuḥ
ka eṣa vasudevastu devakī ca yaśasvinī
nandagopaśca kastveṣa yaśodā ca mahāvratā //
The Sages said:—Sûta! Who were Vasudeva and Devakî, to whom the manifestation of Lord Viṣṇu was born as a son and called them His parents; and who were Nanda and Yaśodâ, who saw the childish freaks of that Divine babe?—7-8.
