smṛtāste prācyasāmānaḥ kārtā nāmeha sāmagāḥ //

This Kṛita was the promulgator of twentyfour kinds of Sâma Vedic Saṃhitâ, and the chanter of these Sâmas came to be known as Eastern Kârtâsâmagâs.—76.
