āpo dhruvaśca somaśca dharaścaivānilo 'nalaḥ
pratyūṣaśca prabhāsaśca vasavo 'ṣṭau prakīrtitāḥ //

The most powerful of the Devas that pervade the universe are known by the name of Vasus, who are eight in number, viz.:—Âpa, Dhruva, Soma, Dhara, Anila, Anala, Pratyûṣa and Prabhâsa.—20-21.
