agniputraḥ kumārastu śarastambe vyajāyata
tasya śākho viśākhaśca naigameyaś ca pṛṣṭhajāḥ //
Anala perchance cast his seed in a heap of reeds, whence sprang up Kumâra, Śâkha, Viśâkha and Naigameya. They were fostered by the Pleiades, and that is why they are known as Kârtikêya, and the great Ṛiṣi Devala was begotten by Pratyûsa.—26-27.
