upabhedānpravakṣyāmi loke ye sampratiṣṭhitāḥ
pādme purāṇe yatroktaṃ narasiṃhopavarṇanam
taccāṣṭādaśasāhasraṃ nārasiṃhamihocyate //

*Upapurâṇas*—(1) *Nṛisiṁha*.—I shall now tell you about the difference between the Purâṇas that exist in the universe and the secondary Purâṇas. There is a mention of Nṛisiṁha in the Padma Purâṇa, and the 18,000 ślokas (dealing with the history of Narasiṁha) forms the Nârsiṁha Purâṇa (which is one of the secondary Purâṇas).—59.
